Narcissistic Mother

Do you remember the story of Jemima Jones? Well, let’s talk about Mrs Jones, a typical example of a narcissistic mother.

Everything is all about me.

Traits of a narcissist

  • No empathy: A narcissist Mom has no ability to be mindful of her child’s feelings and thoughts. She denies and invalidates her children’s thoughts. Only what matter is what she thinks or feels.
  • Manipulation: “It is your fault that I am unhappy”, “Why can’t you be as good as your brother?”, “Your poor performance is an embarrassment to the family”. These are some of the quotes of a narcissist.
  • Vicarious lifestyle: Every parent’s desire is that their children should succeed but a narcissist set expectations for her children. This is not for the benefit of the children but for the fulfillment of her selfish needs and dreams.
  • Competitive marginalization: Some see their children as their competitors. They lower the children’s confidence to boost their own insecure self-worth.
  • Grandiosity, superiority and superficial image: While some enjoy public display of what they consider their superior dispositions, be it physical appearance, accomplishments, material possessions or contacts in high places.

The children are left to be emotionally drained, insensitive and eventually turn to narcissists. We end up with a broken society.
